The prices of certain agricultural products in Sao Paulo State, Brazil, are analyzed for the period February-June 1986. A price freeze was imposed in February 1986 throughout Brazil, followed by limited price rises controlled by the government. The prices of the two export crops studied (coffee and soyabeans) were governed by world markets, by poor harvests in the case of coffee, and by specific government policies, as well as by the price controls.
