What is an outdoor museum?

, : What is an outdoor museum?. Informerar, Statens Kulturrad, Sweden (8): 4-6

Management of an outdoor museum in Sweden is outlined. There is a minimum of staffing yet little vandalism. It is recommended that an outdoor museum be related to its nearest local environment, contain three-dimensional information and always be open. This makes it unnecessary to have expensive, naturalistic dioramas and stimulates visitors to observe their own environment. The information should partly consist of models and objects, and the museum should be weather-proof and vandal-proof.
