A guide to diagnosis and treatment of chronic diarrhoea in the dog

, : A guide to diagnosis and treatment of chronic diarrhoea in the dog. Australian Veterinary Practitioner 20(2): 58-65

An overview of the pathophysiology of diarrhoea and malassimilation syndromes in dogs is presented to guide the practitioner in the diagnosis of chronic diarrhoea. The importance of ascertaining whether the diarrhoea is acute or chronic, associated with primary or secondary gastrointestinal disorders and due to the disease of the small bowel, large bowel or both is emphasised.
