A study of gap-fillers for wooden objects

, : A study of gap-fillers for wooden objects. Studies in Conservation 33(2): 71-86

In the context of the conservation of ethnological wooden objects, 33 gap-fillers were tested for their handling properties and their response to applied stress. The fill materials were subjected to stress-strain analysis in a compression tester, and were then evaluated for their response to compressive forces when inserted in closing checks (cracks) in swelling wood responding to high RH.
