Beyond the fringe? Small states and the provision of education

, : Beyond the fringe? Small states and the provision of education. Comparative Education 24(2): 167-179

The paper relates some aspects of the concept of peripherality to the issue of educational provision in small island states. In so far as many of the small island states are products of the formative period of the world economic order, their entire being, including the provision of formal education, can be described as genetically peripheral. After an initial introduction to the world of the small states, the paper proceeds to a discussion of the centre-periphery concept.
