Fish health - human health. Can the heart diseases that occur in man also be prevented in farmed fish?

, : Fish health - human health. Can the heart diseases that occur in man also be prevented in farmed fish?. Norsk Veterinaertidsskrift 101(6): 537-541

There is growing evidence that increased dietary intake of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids may reduce the development of cardiovascular disease in man. Whether n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids have similar effects in fish are, however, not known. Cell membrane integrity in poikolotherms which experience changes in the surrounding temperature is highly dependent on the fatty acid composition of the diet.
