Presence of particular cannabinoids is determined by the type and colour of glandular hairs on the perianth. Plants carrying glandular hairs with a white head and short stalk contain no cannabinoids, while those carrying hairs with a small glossy head, yellow-orange to brown in colour, and a long stalk have a high cannabinoid content.
