Nutrient similarities and differences of older lacto-ovo-vegetarian and omnivorous women

, : Nutrient similarities and differences of older lacto-ovo-vegetarian and omnivorous women. Nutrition reports international 39(1): 19-24

The dietary intakes of ten post-menopausal lacto-ovo-vegetarian women were compared with those of a similar group of ten omnivorous women. The seven-day food and beverage records showed significant dietary differences in their calcium to phosphorus ratio, calculated acid-base content, P:S ratio, and cholesterol content. These differences may explain some of the differences in bone mineral loss between post-menopausal women of these two groups.
