Small-area zoning of the territory of the GDR - basis of decentralized forecasting of fungal and animal pests in arable farming

, : Small-area zoning of the territory of the GDR - basis of decentralized forecasting of fungal and animal pests in arable farming. Nachrichtenblatt fur den Pflanzenschutz in der DDR 43(11): 223-227

To facilitate accurate computer-aided pest and disease forecasting in the GDR, the country has been divided into 45 zones by natural features. The divisions made in the county of Cottbus are given as an example. The Harz area and the county of Suhl are excluded from the classification. Meteorological stations have been assigned to 38 of the 45 zones, and 36 of the zones contain 'phenobases' for collecting crop, pest and disease phenological data.
