This book is concerned with social problems in the Third World. It examines them in detail, and sets out practical solutions for them which have been proposed. Issues discussed include poverty, the rural majority, cities, development and health, education, social workers, women's rights, population, and government/misgovernment. Theories of economic development, namely neoclassical theory, structuralism and dependency theory, are critically reviewed.
