Use of synthetic peptides in studies on the biogenesis and phosphorylation of photosystem II proteins

, : Use of synthetic peptides in studies on the biogenesis and phosphorylation of photosystem II proteins. Photosynthesis: molecular biology and bioenergetics: 103-115

Synthetic peptide analogs of regions of the light harvesting chlorophyll a/b complex (LHC II) and the 8.3 kDa psb H gene product (chloroplast thylakoid phosphoproteins) were used to study their phosphorylation and biogenesis. Results indicated that the LHC II kinase phosphorylated serine and threonine residues provided that they were located in an appropriate sequence including a pair of basic amino acids located 1-3 residues to the N-terminal side of the phosphorylated residue.
