Biological effects of parasitism by Epiricania melanoleuca (Fletcher) on Pyrilla perpusilla (Walker)

, : Biological effects of parasitism by Epiricania melanoleuca (Fletcher) on Pyrilla perpusilla (Walker). Journal of Biological Control, 42: 77-79

In the laboratory, the parasitoid Epiricania melanoleuca caused 95.9% mortality of 1st-instar larvae of Pyrilla perpusilla within 2 days of infestation. If larvae were infested in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th instars, 5.88, 5.00 and 20.00%, resp., developed into weak adults. If infestation occurred in the 5th (final larval) instar, 20.00% successfully developed into normal adults, although their fecundity was reduced. Longevity was increased in those P. perpusilla that survived.
