The relationship between leaf water potential (LWP) and leaf water saturation deficit (WSD) was investigated in Alkanna tinctoria, Colchicum arenarium, Carex liparocarpos, Festuca vaginata, Koeleria glauca, Lithospermum arvense (Buglossoides arvensis), Myosotis stricta, Potentilla arenaria Stipa sabulosa and Tragus racemosus. LWP and WSD were linearly related. Spring ephemerals had the highest LWP even at WSD of 25%, but high water stress tolerance was not important in these species.
