Diallel analysis of the grain filling trait in spring durum wheat

, : Diallel analysis of the grain filling trait in spring durum wheat. Sel' skokhozyaistvennaya Biologiya ( 1): 52-57

Grain plumpness was studied in hybrids from diallel crosses of 7 varieties at 2 sites. The best combining ability for the trait was shown by Bezenchukskaya 139 and Orenburgskaya 10. Additive and dominant genes controlled the trait, with additive genes predominating under favourable conditions (Saratov) and non-additive genes under unfavourable ones (Krasnyi Kut). It appeared that breeding for the trait would be more effective under favourable than unfavourable conditions.
