Experiments and extension of the utilization and improvement of sandy rangelands in Nei Monggol (inner Mongolia) autonomous region, China

, : Experiments and extension of the utilization and improvement of sandy rangelands in Nei Monggol (inner Mongolia) autonomous region, China. Proceedings of the XVI International Grassland Congress, 4-11 October 1989, Nice, France: 1121-1122

There are 4 sandy rangelands in the Inner Mongolia steppe. They are: the Hulun Beir Sandy Rangeland; the Kerching Sandy Rangeland; the Hunshandak Sandy Rangeland, and the Maowoos Sandy Rangeland. In the cold seasons (Nov.-Apr.) there are about 18.25 million sheep equivalent units (one-third of the total livestock in Inner Mongolia) grazing on these rangelands. Owing to overgrazing and poor management, the rangelands are deteriorated and degraded seriously year by year.
