Formation and designation of clay layers in some soils of Egypt

, : Formation and designation of clay layers in some soils of Egypt. Developments in Soil Science 19: 71-79

The genesis and formation of clay layers in alkali soils were studied to examine their effect on reclamation. A descriptive nomenclature for these layers is proposed based on the criteria given for the identification of the argillic, cambic and agric horizons. Morphological, physical, mineralogical and micropedological examination of the profiles revealed the absence of argillic horizons due to lack of clay migration.
