During 1986-87, bananas arriving at Italian markets from the Windward Islands, Somalia and Guatemala were examined for crown rot diseases. The most frequently isolated fungi from fruit previously treated with TBZ (thiabendazole) and benomyl were Colletotrichum musae (37.24%), Fusarium sporotrichioides (19.6%), Fusarium spp. (15.68%), Pestalotia spp. (5.88%), Cladosporium spp., Acremonium spp. and Alternaria (3.92%).
