Isolation of Mycoplasma biotype F38 from sheep in Kenya

, : Isolation of Mycoplasma biotype F38 from sheep in Kenya. Tropical Animal Health and Production 22(4): 260-262

The role of sheep and calves in the epidemiology of contagious caprine pleuropneumonia (CCPP) was investigated by random selection of 15 calves, 45 sheep and 41 goats from farms experiencing a second outbreak. Clinical signs of CCPP were seen in 70% of the goats examined but in none of the sheep or calves. Nasal swabs and blood samples were taken from all the animals. In PM examination all of 6 goats but none of 5 sheep showed changes typical of CCPP.
