The accurate observation of human performance is fundamental to the teaching process. Physical education teachers spend a great deal of time monitoring student performance and providing feedback in an effort to enhance student learning. However, although observational skills may be improved through training, institutions that educate pre-service teachers place little emphasis on ensuring that improvement occurs.
