Oropharyngeal candidosis in HIV-positive patients. Fluconazole treatment in general practice

, : Oropharyngeal candidosis in HIV-positive patients. Fluconazole treatment in general practice. Munchener Medizinische Wochenschrift 134(6): 85-87

The efficacy and tolerability of fluconazole (Diflucan) in 110 outpatients with AIDS suffering from oropharyngeal Candida infection were studied in an open, uncontrolled phase-III-study. Patients received single daily oral administration of 100-200 mg fluconazole for 7-21 d. Treatment had to be discontinued in 6 patients due to death from primary disease (3 cases), upon request of patients (2 cases) and because of additional treatment with another antifungal drug.
