Somatic embryogenesis and plant regeneration in Coronilla varia L. (crownvetch) long-term tissue cultures

, : Somatic embryogenesis and plant regeneration in Coronilla varia L. (crownvetch) long-term tissue cultures. Biologia Plantarum 32(1): 8-13

Spontaneous recovery of regeneration abilities was observed in a long-term (about 2-year-old) C. varia tissue culture permanently grown on MS medium containing 1 mg IAA/litre. Somatic embryos and later complete plants differentiated from initally regenerating roots. The formation and development of embryos was accompanied by a 10- to 20-fold increase in the content of the cardioactive glycosides hyrcanoside and deglucohyrcanoside in the culture biomass.
