Studies of the characteristics of dry matter production and seed yield in soyabeans. I. Characteristics of dry matter production of soyabeans grown in rotational upland fields

, : Studies of the characteristics of dry matter production and seed yield in soyabeans. I. Characteristics of dry matter production of soyabeans grown in rotational upland fields. Journal of the Faculty of Agriculture, Iwate University 20(3): 273-288

In trials in 1989-90, soyabeans Wasesuzunari, Suzukari and Harosoy were grown in normal upland fields or paddy fields converted to upland fields. In the 1st year after conversion poor soil conditions led to marked effects of weather on growth. As the 2nd season after conversion progressed, growth in converted fields improved to give high LAI, high leaf area duration and high DM production. In these fields leaf N content became high and contributed to an increase in NAR.
