The budgetary implications of reducing US income inequality through income transfer programs

, : The budgetary implications of reducing US income inequality through income transfer programs. AE Research, Development of Agricultural Economics, Cornell University ( 91-6): 51pp.

In this paper, it is recognized that the relatively constant inequality in the distribution of US family income masks dramatic change in the structure of the income distribution and the composition of personal incomes. Using relatively new procedures for decomposing the Gini measure of income inequality, a better understanding is gained of the relationships among changes in the sources of income and the income distribution.
