The effect of growth regulators and a top dressing of nitrogen fertilizer on local cultivars on wheat from Galicia (N.W. Spain)

, : The effect of growth regulators and a top dressing of nitrogen fertilizer on local cultivars on wheat from Galicia (N.W. Spain). Investigacion Agraria, Produccion y Proteccion Vegetales 5(1): 89-101

In field trials in Galicia in 1985-87, tall local wheat cultivars were given 0, 40, 80, 120, 160 or 200 kg N/ha with or without 1.24 + 1.12 litres chlormequat + choline chloride or 0.48 litres ethephon/ha. Growth regulators reduced plant height on average by 11% and reduced lodging from 57% (untreated) to 20%. In general, plots treated with growth regulators tended to give higher (16.6%) grain yield than non-treated plots.
