Tolerance of wheat cultivars to metribuzin and implications for the control of Bromus diandrus and B. rigidus in Western Australia

, : Tolerance of wheat cultivars to metribuzin and implications for the control of Bromus diandrus and B. rigidus in Western Australia. Australian Journal of Experimental Agriculture 30(3): 373-378

Of 9 wheat cultivars tested in field experiments in 1986-87 the southern Australian cultivar Blade was the most tolerant to metribuzin applications for control of B. diandrus and B. rigidus. However, grain yields of Spear and Dagger were severely reduced. Metribuzin alone (100-150 g/ha) or as a tank-mix with pendimethalin at 250 g/ha incorporated at the time of sowing, gave reliable control of B. diandrus and B. rigidus with good crop safety when used on Blade.
