Tremor in animals

, : Tremor in animals. Wiener Tieraerztliche Monatsschrift 78(8): 252-255

The authors describe diseases in large and small animals, in which tremor is an important symptom. A distinction between congenital and acquired tremor is made. Congenital tremor syndromes are often due to abnormalities of myelin formation. Other causes include congenital spongy encephalopathies, hereditary congenital myoclonus, and storage diseases. Acquired tremor is often seen in diseases that cause diffuse brain lesions, i.e., intoxications, disturbances of electrolytes, hypoglycemia, inflammatory, autoimmune or degenerative diseases. Since cerebellar lesions often produce tremor, cerebellar symptoms and diseases are discussed separately.
