A 'minimalist' approach to participatory extension

, : A 'minimalist' approach to participatory extension. Journal of the Asian Farming Systems Association 1(3): 361-369

In diverse production environments, farming systems research faces a fundamental limitation: any technology generated from research for extension to farmers will tend to be site-specific. The solution to this lies, not in refining the research process, but in making the extension process more than just a 'transfer of technology'. An extension approach with minimal participatory content has begun to evolve within the national programme introducing wheat production to Thailand.
