Historically, the non-farm public had little access to, and not much interest in, the agricultural research agenda, but this situation is changing. Partnerships between farmers, consumers, agricultural industry representatives, environmentalists, government and university personnel in the form of focus groups can take advantage of creative group energy to jointly identify needs and set priorities for agricultural research and education.
