Agriculture in East European countries in 1992

, : Agriculture in East European countries in 1992. Osteuropa Wirtschaft 38(2): 83-96

The countries covered in the review include the Czech and Slovak Republics, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia and the Ukraine. Gross agricultural production fell by 9.6% for the region as a whole. In the first six countries the 13.6% fall was mainly caused by a poor grain harvest as the result of drought. In Russia the grain harvest was actually 20% higher than in 1991, though in the Ukraine it stagnated. Production of the livestock sector fell in all countries.
