An optical sensor for the detection of nitrate

, : An optical sensor for the detection of nitrate. Sensors and Actuators B, Chemical 7(1/3): 473-475

An optical chemical sensor for the selective detection of NO3- ions is described. The sensitive layer consists of a PVC membrane containing a NO3--selective ionophore and a proton-selective (chromo)-ionophore (pH indicator). Transport of NO3- ions into the membrane results in the coextraction of H+ ions. This H+ concn change is measured spectroscopically.
