Comparison of new and used liners: effects on milking characteristics of Lacaune ewes, at the beginning and at the end of the lactation

, : Comparison of new and used liners: effects on milking characteristics of Lacaune ewes, at the beginning and at the end of the lactation. International Symposium on Machine Milking of Small Ruminants Proceedings of a conference held in Kibbutz Shefayim, Israel, 13-19 September 1989: 300-310

Since hand stripping yield and the frequency of cluster falls are affected by the characteristics of the liner (possibly by its age) and by the shape and consistency of the udder (stage of lactation), new and used liners (840 h) were compared during 3 weeks on 36 ewes. The experiment was done at the beginning of lactation (29 days, 1.55 litres of milk per day) and repeated at the end (137 days, 0.42 litres of milk per day).
