Cultural practices and sample costs for organic vegetable production on the Central Coast of California

, : Cultural practices and sample costs for organic vegetable production on the Central Coast of California. Giannini Foundation Information Series ( 94-2): iv + 84pp.

This publication provides a guide to growers of organic vegetables in the Central Coast region of California. It describes the range of soil management practices, pest management, crop rotation, cover crops, harvest and packing methods currently used. Marketing options and state and federal regulations governing organic commodities are noted. Sample costs for a hypothetical farm are given for 13 vegetable crops and two cover crops based on 1992/93 prices.
