A new source of cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS), a line of B. juncea with B. tournefortii cytoplasm, was used to produce plants of B. napus Regent with CMS by backcrossing. Required alloplasmic plants with CMS were obtained in the BC4. They had small flowers with narrow petals and rudimentary anthers.
