Effect of aspen and oak wood rotting on the solubility of their main components

, : Effect of aspen and oak wood rotting on the solubility of their main components. Holzforschung 46(4): 289-291

Aspen trees (Populus tremuloides) infected by Fomes igniarius var. populinus and oak (Quercus robur) infected with Graphium ramosum were investigated in respect to the composition and extractability of lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose in neutral, acid and alkali media. The results are discussed in relation to the changes of solubility of the main wood components upon rotting and their behaviour in pulping.
