Effects of evaporative cooling on lactation and reproduction of Holstein cows in summer

, : Effects of evaporative cooling on lactation and reproduction of Holstein cows in summer. Journal of the Chinese Society of Animal Science 22(2): 163-173

14 primiparous Holstein cows were randomly allocated to either a spray-cooled or control group by calving date to investigate the effect of evaporative cooling on milk yield and fertility. Cooling was carried out by an automated system, which actuated sprinkling (30 s), followed by forced ventilation (4.5 min) for 30-min periods. Cows were cooled 5 times/day between 10.00 and 16.30 h, starting at day 63, until day 93 post partum.
