Evolutions of African swine fever in Portugal

, : Evolutions of African swine fever in Portugal. Agriculture: Coordination of agricultural research: African swine fever: proceedings of a workshop within the Community programme for coordination of agricultural research, Lisbon, Portugal, 7, 8 and 9 October, 1991: 43-51

After the introduction of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Portugal in 1957, probably from African by contaminated waste food, the disease became enzootic in 1960. The number of outbreaks and number pigs killed by the disease from 1957-90 are illustrated. Between 1960 and 1980 the disease has shown a seasonal pattern with higher incidence in the second half of the year mainly in September.
