The origins and taxonomy of keratinophilic fungi found in France, including Trichophyton ajelloi, T. terrestre, Microsporum gypseum, M. cookei, M. persicolor, T. mentagrophytes, M. nanum, T. simii, Chrysosporium keratinophilum, C. tropicum, Aphanoascus fulvescens, C. pannorum, Chrysosporium anamorph of Arthroderma curreyi and A. cuniculi, and C. georgii, are summarized.
