Genotypic variation of protein content and protein composition of rice

, : Genotypic variation of protein content and protein composition of rice. Orissa Journal of Agricultural Research 4(1/2): 95-98

The crude protein, true protein, non-protein nitrogen, albumin, globulin, prolamin and glutelin contents were determined in 17 semi-dwarf and 19 tall rice varieties. The highest crude and true protein contents were found in the tall variety B76 (10.65 and 10.52%, respectively), followed by the semi-dwarf variety Keshar (9.95 and 9.75%, respectively). Albumin, globulin and glutelin showed highly significant, positive correlation with protein content.
