Good clamping - practice makes perfect

, : Good clamping - practice makes perfect. British Sugar Beet Review 61(3): 44-45

An outline is given of sugarbeet storage practice at the end of 1992 at a farm on the wolds of North Yorkshire, which allowed storage for 10 weeks with minimal deterioration. Capacity for 1300 t beet was provided on a concrete base (29 m x 27 m), with walls on 3 sides supplied by round bales stacked to height 2.8 m. Beet for storage was harvested as cleanly as possible late in the year when cold, with removal of tops and trash.
