The authors discuss the confusion between hypoallergenic diets (containing a single source of protein and carbohydrate to which animal has not been exposed before) and controlled diets (containing a limited number of highly digestible ingredients allowing for optimal assimilation and reduced exposure to potentially irritating and antigenic substances).
