Initial floristics in lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta) forests following the 1988 Yellowstone fires

, : Initial floristics in lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta) forests following the 1988 Yellowstone fires. International Journal of Wildland Fire 1(2): 119-124

In August 1989, all vascular plants were counted and plant density was calculated on paired plots at 7 sites in Pinus contorta stands that had been burned in September 1988 in northern Yellowstone National Park. At each site, one plot had suffered a severe canopy fire and the other plot was in an adjacent area that had burned with moderate severity. Density of vascular plants was consistently higher on moderately-burned plots.
