Although good snow seasons produce greater skier visit totals, which should encourage new lift construction, the second lowest total of new lifts has been recorded in the USA in some 30 years. The reduction can be accounted for by the poor economic climate in the last few years; the fact that the lifts are stronger; and that there are many lifts working that are not classified as new, in order to keep data consistent.
