Long term alternation of regimes with raised and natural CO2 concentrations and their effect on biomass production in kohlrabis, radishes and lettuce seedlings

, : Long term alternation of regimes with raised and natural CO2 concentrations and their effect on biomass production in kohlrabis, radishes and lettuce seedlings. Zahradnictvi 18(4): 241-248

The vegetable plants and seedlings were grown in growth chambers with enriched (990 micro l/litre) or normal (340 micro /litre) CO2 levels permanently or were transferred after 4 weeks from the higher to the lower CO2 atmosphere or vice versa for 12-15 days. The constant high CO2 atmosphere increased biomass production in general. Plants transferred from the high CO2 to the normal atmosphere showed intermediate biomass production values between those in the 2 constant atmospheres.
