Microorganism methane formation and consumption in tundra and middle taiga bogs

, : Microorganism methane formation and consumption in tundra and middle taiga bogs. Microbiology New York 61(4): 486-493

Changes in the rates of methane formation and consumption by microorganisms in the tundra hummock-depression bog complex and in various nutritive types of middle taiga bogs were studied. The bog soils served as natural biofilters for methane. The methane in deep layers of water-filled depressions was efficiently consumed both in upper layers and nearby unflooded soil.
