Oil palm genetic resources - public and private sector collaboration

, : Oil palm genetic resources - public and private sector collaboration. Crop networks Searching for new concepts for collaborative genetic resources management Papers of the EUCARPIA/IBPGR symposium held at Wageningen, Netherlands, 3-6 December 1990: 117-123

The Palm Oil Institute of Malaysia (PORIM) has assembled the largest collection of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) genetic resources in the world. Its genetic resources activities involve collection, establishment, evaluation, conservation and utilization. Collaboration between the PORIM (public) and plantation companies (private) begins from the initiation of a project until utilization of the elite genetic material found in the collection.
