Performance of commercial sugarcane varieties in wide base furrows

, : Performance of commercial sugarcane varieties in wide base furrows. Avance Agroindustrial 12(47): 7-8

Seven varieties planted in wide and simple (control) furrows were compared during 4 harvest cycles from 1988 to 1991. A significant average yield increase of 20% in response to the wide furrow design was observed at all stages in all the varieties evaluated. The early variety TUC71-7, yielding 80.9 t/ha in wide furrows, showed the highest yield increment (34.3%) in response to the design.
