Pressure transmission in the soil

, : Pressure transmission in the soil. Landtechnik 48(1/2): 42-45

Measurement of ground pressure of farm machinery on a grey brown podzolic soil with loess (loamy silt) using hydraulic tube probes and wire resistance strain gauges indicated that wire resistance gauges regularly gave higher readings. Comparative measurements were conducted in a soil bin in order to investigate this phenomenon using soil from the field trials and 3 types of measuring equipment. Measurements were taken at depths of 18, 28, 38 and 48 cm under firm and loose soil conditions.
