Relative performance of different methods of raising rice seedlings in a calcareous soil

, : Relative performance of different methods of raising rice seedlings in a calcareous soil. Annals of Agricultural Research 13(3): 235-239

Rice Mashoori seedlings were grown in raised, flat or puddled nursery beds in trials at Dholi, Bihar in the 1989-90 kharif season. Mean seedling DW, and leaf concentrations of Fe and chlorophyll, were highest in puddled beds and lowest in raised beds. Application of 0.5 t pyrites and/or 5 or 10 t FYM/ha increased seedling growth in raised and flat beds (particularly when applied jointly) but had little effect on growth in puddled beds.
