Soil conservation in 1992 - an international perspective

, : Soil conservation in 1992 - an international perspective. Australian Journal of Soil and Water Conservation 5(3): 46-50

Soil conservation programmes changed little from the 1930s to the early 1980s, but considerable changes have occurred with the growing public interest in environmental concerns. It is now widely realized that conservation can only be quickly achieved if carried out by the land users themselves. There is a movement away from the 'project' approach towards new policies and long-term programmed supported by a variety of subsidies and incentives.
