Of 125 varieties studied during 1974-83 at the VIR Crimean Pomological Station in the Ukraine, 29 were selected as the most promising for a combination of useful quality traits. Tabular data are presented for the selected varieties on maturity group, mean fruit weight, percentage of flesh in the fruit, and score for fruit flavour and appearance. In all, 13 sources of large fruit and 10 of good flavour were identified.
